Bikash Chandra Mitra

Mr. Bikash Chandra Mitra joined as the Director General of the Commercial Audit Directorate on 18^th September 2023. Prior to assuming the office, Mr. Mitra worked as Director General of the Directorate of IT and Public Services Audit from 13^th June 2022 to 18^th September 2023 and Director General of the Directorate of Local Government and Rural Development Audit from 17^th November 2020 to 12^th June 2022. Besides he worked with UNDP, in lien, as Audit Expert from June 2017 to September 2020.

Mr. Mitra joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Audit and Accounts Cadre 18^th batch on 25^th January 1999. Major part of his carrier in the department he was posted in the audit directorates in different capacities. He has vast auditing experience in all three types of audits especially in performance audit. Besides, as an IDI-ASOSAI certified Adult Training Specialist, he rendered a considerable part of his service in capacity building of the officials of the department and also the officials across the Government.

Academically, Mr. Mitra holds Master of Science (MSc) in Economics with distinction from the University of Surrey, UK. He graduated with a Bachelor degree in Science with Honours and Master of Science in Statistics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from the University of Dhaka.

In his professional life, he attended many professional training courses at home and abroad which are designed for public sector auditing. Some of them include Performance Audit Training in India and in Bangladesh, training on Auditing of Social Sectors in India, Leadership Training Programme from Maastricht University. In addition, he obtained Diploma in Adult Training Specialist Course designed by IDI-ASOSAI.

Mr. Mitra was born in a noble Hindu family of Pirojpur District. In his personal life, he is married and blessed with one daughter and one son.
