Commercial Audit Directorate is one of the seventeen (17) Audit Directorates under the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh. This Audit Directorate is responsible for carrying out audit of all government offices belonging to five Ministries/Divisions, namely Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism and Financial Institution Division of Ministry of Finance. This Directorate, along with its four regional offices in Sylhet, Chattogram, Khulna and Rajshahi, is particularly assigned to audit all public sector financial institutions, which include Bangladesh Bank, State-owned Banks, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), The Security Printing Corporation, Insurance Development and Regularity Authority (IDRA), State-owned Insurance Companies and so on. The objective of this Directorate is to conduct effective audit of the aforementioned offices in order to ensure value for public money and provide reliable and objective information to the stakeholders with a view to establishing transparency and accountability in their activities.
